| Michelle Branch describes her carear
as a "love affair" between her and music. She
is a free spirit - dressing how she wants, moving how
she wants and singing about what she wants. This fresh
take on the pop scene has singled Michelle out in a sea
of manufactured boy and girl bands.
Born on July 2nd 1983 in Phoenix, Arizona, Michelle
arrived into thr world severn weeks early. From as far
back as anyone can remember she has been into music
and was playing around with her parents karaoke machine
by the age of three.
At eight she took up signing lessons but was hit by
a set back when the family moved to Sedona, Arizona.
However she later there was no stopping her and soon
she has switched to home tutoring rather than school
to concentrate on her music.
Michelle made the leap into the music industry when
a manager named Jeff Rabhan took a time share tour at
a resort nearby. After getting a phone call from her
friend, Michelle headed down in a hot wired golf buggy
and trust the tape upon him. Though he wasn't keen at
first, a few months later Michelle got a call - and
got signed up.
Her first album recorded independently, titled Broken
Bracelet was soon recorded and despite it's lack of
publicity featured some catchy tunes including 'Leap
of Faith' and others which would go on to be used in
her later albums.
In Summer 2000, Michelle was offered the chance to
play at some up coming shows by Hanson's reps. Michelle
accepted and flew out to California. Here she was spotted
by a rep for Maverick Records. She signed up in December
2000 and recorded her smash album "The Spirit Room."
The albums lead song "Everywhere" rocketed
to #12 in the Billboard Hot 100 attracting the attention
of major artists including Sheryl Crow and the Dixie
Chicks. She later released All You Wanted as a single
as well as Goodbye to You, as featured on series 6 of
Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
In summer 2003, Carlos Santana gave Michelle the chance
to work with him, recording Game of Love for his album
Shaman. This earned her a Best Pop Collaboration with
Vocals Grammy as well as a nomination for best New Artist.
In April 2003, Michelle released her third album, Hotel
Paper. Though the album was not as addictive as a whole
it did feature the single "are you happy now?"
